Press release

Kampen, 1987: turbulent birth of ‘De Achteruitkijkspiegeltjes’. After just one street performance that name quickly changed to ‘De Bronstgieters’. They grow out to be one of the most interesting bands in rammelpop loving Holland. Both music and act reach absurd and hysterical peaks that now and then displays an almost uncanny geniality, only to be compensated by disturbed stupidity that forces even the driest jerk to completely lose it. De Bronstgieters are not only a band, but a theatrical piece of art. An experience that must not be missed, but… they regrettably stopped playing in 1993.

Still holding on to some of their audiocassettes and actually still playing them quite regularly after all these years, I decided to ask them for a re-release on esc.rec. After their first meeting to discuss this proposition, De Bronstgieters sprung back to life and before I could say ‘come-back’, they decided to release a brand new De Bronstgieters compilation and do at least one live performance to present this release to the public.

De Bronstgieters presented their compilation ‘Doos Where The Days’ on the 20th of May 2006 and it was a legendary night! This went way beyond simple nostalgia, although the number of approvingly smiling old fans that were present that night was overwhelming. De Bronstgieters themselves are also very pleased with the way everything comes together and no longer exclude the possibility that they will be performing some more… so be on the look out!
