Here it is. The announcement of the winners who’ll see their track on the N.E.W. 6.0 compilation CD.
Huh? What? N.E.W.? Suffice to say it’s an initiative by Doornroosje, Burgerweeshuis, productiehuis ON, 3voor12 Nijmegen, 3voor12 Overijssel, Gesel XL, Festival De Affaire, Gogbot festival and esc.rec. to promote electronic music by (upcoming) producers from the east of the Netherlands. Just check the N.E.W. website for more info.
A professional jury of 7 (including me) evaluated the top 20 highest ranking tracks individually and came to a grand total of 12 winning tracks. These winners have not only earned a prime spot on the N.E.W. 6.0 CD, but their music will also be distributed as a free download by esc.rec. (!). Plus all the winners get at least two live showcases out of this, check the N.E.W. website for details. You may also want to follow N.E.W. on Facebook and Twitter.
So here they are, the winners!
Radion ft. John Jacob Niles – Gypsy, Kuhlmannmensink – ESP 12, Sam A La Bamalot – It Aint No Way, Le 024 – Chateaux, Hide and Scream – Vector (Original Mix), Oshunmare – Yoqmage, Grimm Limbo – Money & Love, EML – Island Hopping (Original Mix), Détaché – Walk over Ghosts, AddictedWhiteGuy – Preach It, SonurBer – Bachus, De Sluwe Vos – Thug life bitches (Original Mix)

Phonica, a collection of five interactive audiovisuals for mobile phones was released some time ago. Pioneering audiovisual works were created by Garçon Taupe, Radboud Mens, Monofoob, Robert Witt and AvoidAudio. But so far it was only available by SMS service (and only in The Netherlands).
Now you can download this revolutionary ‘album’ through Bandcamp. See?
Next step is making it available for iPhone users. Right now your phone has to support Flash Lite content to make this work.

There’s a new esc.rec. release out today! Ambi is a relatively short album (call it EP if you will) by Transfolmer. The sentiment in his music almost borders the obscene and yet, this third Transfolmer album on esc.rec. holds a rare quality; it’s timeless. It could have been made years ago or yesterday, who knows. This album is also completely instrumental, which is a first for Transfolmer. Without Transfolmer’s dark voice to guide us, his sound reaches a higher abstraction level and is more open to personal interpretation. Less song, more scape.
This album is only available as a paid download, but you can listen to a stream of the whole thing for free if you like. Check it here!
